Documentary

I discovered my love for documentaries while in college and have had a hard time liking Hollywood narratives ever since.  I find real people's stories to be much more captivating and love the idea that as a documentary filmmaker I can be the voice that helps tells other people's stories.

WHAT'S NEW

 "Just Moms"

Fresh off my mission, I started looking for a way to build my portfolio.  A subject that seemed to be surrounding me was the newfound role many of my friends were taking on: motherhood.  It seems that there is a stigma when it comes to being "just a mom."  Following four young mothers around showed me that being "just a mom" comes with it's own set of challenges and hard work.

FULL-LENGTH FEATURES

"The Inheritance of War"

The above video is an excerpt from a feature-length documentary I shot, edited and directed that tells the story of several Bataan Death March POW's quest for justice.

"Street Vets"

I was a mere helper on this project with the very talented filmmaker Issac Goeckeritz.  The film follows several homeless veterans and shows their struggle to find their way home.

SHORT FILMS

I had the privilege of accompanying Utah State University's Engineers Without Borders chapter to Uganda where they built a well and installed sustainable energy.  It was a life-changing experience for me as I observed African life and talked with the people.  The above video shows several orphans reaction to watching television for the first time.

Village ife centers around the community well since many people in Africa do not have running water in their home.  I was struck by this young orphan girl's dedication to washing her little sandals.

One of the POW's interviewed for "The Inheritance of War" had started his own way of giving back to American soldiers fighting abroad.  He involved his entire retirement community and proved you are never to old to make a difference.
